‘The Shmuseum’ – A Bespoke Race Track Floor for Shmee150

This bespoke flooring project over a 1000m² concrete substrate was the vision of YouTube content creator Shmee150 of how he wanted his ‘Dream Garage’ to look. The brief was to bring to life a bland concrete floor for an audience worldwide, whilst filming content for his YouTube channel, which has over 2.8 million subscribers, showcasing his vast collection of exotic cars.

The Challenge
  • Replicate ‘Brünnchen’ corner 33 of the Nürburgring Nordschleife
  • Requirement of a durable, long-lasting surface for cars to be driven over
  • Very close attention to detail
  • Install to be carried out around a car collection worth between 7 and 10 million pounds
  • Installation to be vlogged for ‘Dream Garage’ YouTube content
The Solution

After adhesion tests were carried out, it was evident that the floor would need to be mechanically abraded to remove the top layer of concrete in order for the chosen system to bond fully to the substrate

WestWood PMMA was selected for its fast curing and its ability to create an eye-catching design, with a wide range of RAL colours to meet the brief.

Installation Process

Based on the adhesion test results, it was evident that the substrate would need to be mechanically abraded to achieve a strong bond.

After this process, the Wecryl 821 penetrating primer could be applied, and once cured, the Wecryl 176 primer could be applied, making it ready for the highly intricate design markings to be laid out.

With meticulous marking out and taping complete, it was time to apply Wecryl 488 in the chosen colours for the race track area, with added decorative flake to give the appearance of tarmac, and a lighter colour for the run-off areas.

Once this had cured more meticulous marking out and taping up was carried out to achieve the line markings and ‘world renowned’ red and white curbs of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The Results
  • Visually stunning aesthetic

  • A durable flooring solution

  • A floor fit for a ‘Dream Garage’

  • The perfect backdrop for filming YouTube content seen by millions worldwide

This job was awarded the Highly Commended award at the LRWA Awards Gala for Liquid Waterproofing Project Of The Year, and it’s clear to see why, as the project’s final results speak for themselves. Creating a truly eye-catching project to add to our portfolio.
